Saira Blair
In April, Delegate Saira Blair of West Virginia came to speak to students in an open discussion about Appalachia and Millennials pursuing office. Delegate Blair is the Delegate representing the 59th district of the state of West Virginia. At age 17, Saira ran for the seat and defeated the two-term incumbent while still attending high school! She was elected at age 18, defeating her democratic opponent by over 30 points.
Saira Blair’s victory over a grown woman in a local West Virginia House of Delegates race last night doesn’t mean she gets to skip school.

Favorite President and Why:
Ronald Reagan because when he entered office, the misery index (the sum of the inflation and unemployment rates) was 19.99%. Through his use of deregulation and tax reform, he lowered it to 9.72% by the time he left. Not to mention the fact his economic boom created over 16 million jobs.

Priority Issues:
I am a fiscal conservative. I'm Pro-Life. I'm Pro-Marriage. I'm Pro-Family. I'm Pro-Second Amendment. I'm also Pro-Business because that's where jobs come from. These are my core personal and political beliefs!
Reason for Seeking Public Office:
One of the reasons that I'm running for the 59th House of Delegates seat is to demonstrate to young people that we shouldn't have to wait until we're 40, 50, or 60 to realize that conservative principles are beneficial to all age brackets. I want to help lead today's youth down the conservative pathway to prosperity and success.
